From clothing to bottles to strollers and cribs, there are a thousand choices to make….and it is easy to get stressed out when you are making them!  The good news? Doing your research and figuring out what you really want from a stroller ahead of time can make this decision, at least, a little easier.

Below is a review of the Uppababy Cruz that will give you the information that you need to decide if this stroller will best meet the needs of you and your family.

Getting to Know the Cruz

Uppababy is a company with a reputation for producing high-end, good-quality stroller and travel system products for families on the go who spend a lot of time in their car and about town and who need to make this process as convenient as possible.  The Uppababy Cruz is no exception to this rule. At 21.5 pounds, this stroller is no lightweight, but it is loaded with an array of features that keep a baby safe and happy and at the same time make life easier for busy, on-the-go parents.

The Cruz set comes with an aluminum frame, toddler seat, rain shield, bug shield and bumper bar. This stroller can be used for infants from 4-25 pounds; the bassinet can be added and can be used for infants up to 20 pounds or 25 inches in length.  It is compatible with the Mesa Infant Car Seat and no adaptors are needed in order to install it.

Let’s take a look at the features for baby and parents that make this such an attractive option for so many families.

Features for Baby…

Uppababy, as a company, has an overall great reputation for their safety There are a plethora of features that have been designed especially to keep a baby safe and comfortable even while your family is on the go.

Infants can rest easy in the Infant SnugSeat accessory or this can be converted to a bassinet which is incredibly comfortable and it has been approved for overnight sleeping, so parents can also rest easy knowing that their baby is safe and sound while your family is on the road, even for a long trip.  Parents will also be happy to know it also converts into a toddler seat which allows toddlers to ride facing outwards (or backwards or supine if they prefer!), essentially allowing the stroller to grow along with your baby as they leave infancy.  This kind of versatility can make life more comfortable for baby — and just a bit easier for parents.

Another common problem with strollers is that they can be incredibly bumpy – especially on unpaved or otherwise uneven surfaces. The Uppababy avoids this problem by what they call Air Gro wheels, which help to absorb this impact of bumpy roads or trails and keep your baby comfortable (and, with luck, even sleeping!) while in this travel system.  The smoothness of the ride is also helped by the fact that this stroller’s back wheels are larger and better for navigating well over rough surfaces.

Just like when you are buying a car seat, looking at the safety features on a stroller are meant to keep your baby safe. There are features on this stroller that are meant to be protective for your little one when you are out on the road or running your errands. One of the best safety features is the canopy, which slides down to cover the baby entirely and provide +50 protection from the UV rays of the sun and saves you the trouble of having to slather your baby down with lotion throughout the day. For parents living in sunnier areas (such as the Southern or Southwestern United States), this can be an important consideration. Other important safety features include the 5-point harness, which keeps a baby safely and securely in place.

For all these reasons, the UppaBaby Cruz has definitely been designed to keep a little one sleeping no matter what the day throws at you! Now let’s take a look at what this stroller offers by way of such features to win over hearts and minds of pe

…and Features for Mom and Dad

Let’s be honest: while it is of the utmost importance to make sure that a baby is safe and comfortable in their stroller, it is also important to take into consideration the needs of the parents. After all, it is mom and dad who will be purchasing this product and, most likely, using it day in and day out. Fortunately, Uppababy keeps this in mind and tries to add extra features that will appeal to parents and make their everyday life easier.

The Uppababy Cruz is great on its own, but also can fit into a travel system and is compatible with the Mesa Infant Seat; with adaptors, it can also accommodate other car seats, such as those made by Maxi-Cosi. This gives parents a great deal of adaptability when choosing a car seat. For parents on the go, a travel system is great because it allows for a quick and seamless transition between the car, home, day care and all the other stops you make throughout the day. For the typical busy family, these travel systems can really be a boon.

Many new parents especially will be bowled over by the amount of baby paraphernalia that they will need to bring with them just on an average day. Diaper bags, clothing, bottles, toys and other necessities are simply a part of like once you have kids — but this can mean hauling around more bags than is really convenient. Another great feature that parents will love about the Cruz is its insanely huge storage space which lies beneath the seat: it is 2.7 cubic feet and makes it easier to bring along whatever you will need to face the day.

The Uppababy Cruz is priced at $529.99 and is considered to be at the higher end of these kinds of products. However, parents will be pleased, despite the initial monetary outlay, that they have spent their money well: the Cruz has a good reputation for sturdiness and longevity, so it is a product parents will be able to stick with for quite some time. This makes the initial investment easier to justify, especially for families that are on a budget.

Others felt that wheels became a little squeaky and wobbly, which made some parents nervous (no actually safety problems have been reported with this product, however. Some parents also noted that they would have preferred it to be easier to fold and lock to be made out of a stronger material, reporting that the felt the present material to not be up to the task.

In short, UppaBaby Cruz, while not the most economical choice for a stroller, certainly makes up for this by its quality and attention to detail, details which will make life better for baby and parents both.  It is not only attractive to the eye, it also has been designed to keep the baby safe and comfortable and to make life easier on mom and dad as well.  In short, it is a good investment to make for new parents, especially those who have busy schedules and plan to spend a lot of time on the go.
